New To Do List Idea
People are often running on empty in the lead up to Christmas, trying frantically to get everything done both at work and at home. This time of year can be stressful and overwhelming.
Today, I am going to share a tip to help you stay on top of things, keep your heads above water and be as productive as possible.
I'll keep this short and simple because, well, it's a busy time!
Step 1: Get 2 pieces of paper.
Step 2: On the top of the 1st one write "To do list" and on the top of the 2nd one write "The one thing I have to do today is..."
Step 3: On the 1st piece of paper entitled "To do list" write down absolutely EVERYTHING you can think of that you need to do.
Step 4: Choose one thing from your list to move across to your 2nd list as the ONE thing that you are going to complete that day. Your 2nd list is entitled "the one thing I have to do today is..." and it will only ever have one item at a time and this thing has your full focus and energy.
Step 5: Once the item on your 2nd list is complete, tick it off both lists and repeat step 4 until you are finished with your to do list. You may end up completing more than one thing a day, which is brilliant and I actually generally find I end up completing far more this way than I do when I have a long list of things to do .
When we're drowning in long to do list of things which may have been on there for weeks or months, we often become frazzled and unproductive. This system really helps us to focus our attention on one thing at a time and not become overwhelmed.
